The 80 attending the wedding

Once upon a time there was a lady that found me on Etsy, that ordered 80 sock monkeys for her wedding favors, here is the story on how she found me.

On February 1 2008 I was asked to make 70 sock Monkeys to give away at a wedding, here is how it went.

As I make them I want to show everyone the progress on them. I have to get them done before may 1, I don't think it will take me that long probably 3 at the latest. In the mean time I am going to find out a little about this bride to be and why she is giving away Monkeys at her Wedding, and why she chose me.

Ok its 4:00 Pm and I just got her reply to all my questions. Here are her own words that just made me cry while reading it. Here it is.

How did you find me online?
I googled "homemade monkey" and I came to Etsy, and then I spent half a day looking at all the different handmade monkeys (there were THOUSANDS), there were so many kinds, croched, furry, small, huge, etc.

why did you pick me to make your Monkeys?
The faces on your monkeys were so cute! The faces are very important, because each monkey has their own personality that you will have to live with forever. And sometimes, to me, when people make monkeys they can turn out to look more like cows, but all of yours really look to me like monkeys. And I like the colors you use and your style. And each one looks a little different. Also, from your listings, you seemed to be very professional and organized, which was very important since we needed our monkeys by a certain date. Also, I had emailed about 5 different "monkey artists" and you were by far the most responsible in addition to being so creative.

What do you do for a living?
I'm a psychologist, and my fiance is a website designer.

Why did you choose to give away Monkeys at your Wedding?
We both have always loved stuffed monkeys. Whenever you're sad, they cheer you up. Whenever your friends are tired of hearing your problems, your monkey is always there to listen and give you a hug. And if you are skipping the gym too much, your monkey will give you a dirty look and good talking to whenever you reach for the Ben and Jerry's. My fiancee and I kind of met because of our love of stuffed monkeys, before our first date he mentioned he has stuffed monkeys and I knew he was great! Each of us has about 20 each. I had a different boyfriend who walked into my apartment and said, "Why would any grown adult have so many monkeys, that's weird." I knew he wouldn't last!
So instead of some little wedding favor that everyone will just eat or throw away, we decided that we wanted everyone to get their own stuffed monkey at our wedding so they could get their own hug when they needed it. Our invitation also has monkeys on it. My mother isn't overly happy about it, but she'll come around ;)
Thanks Dulce, we think your're great!

So I made, and made ,and made sock monk
eys for one whole month, then she wanted 10 more, well after about one month and a week I have finally finished the 80 monkeys, Yey I am going to celebrate.
and here they all are. all 80 sock monkeys that are attending this wedding.

So they got married and I hope to get some pictures of the wedding. She said

My monkeys were a big hit. She ran out of monkeys to give away, so she put in another order. and here they are, she needed a chef and his sexy wife, 3 photographers, a working out girl, a ballerina,
and the other to showing here. Here is the link to the incredible wedding pictures.

That IS a fabulous story! And congrats on the huge order!

I hope you put a label on each and every monkey - so all 80 people can find your shop!

That photo at the top of your blog - with all the monkeys on a black background is perfect. It really yells out "CUTE!"

: D

Wow! Way to go getting all of those fabulous monkeys ready for the wedding. They are all so amazingly cute! And what an amazing wedding to be part of. The slide show brought tears to my eyes. I know it must have been a treat to see what a huge part your monkeys played in the reception. How cool!
